Glend Lumbao is a freelance illustrator and muralist from Manila, Philippines.
He moves the way he makes — with patience, endurance, and an instinct for terrain. He is a Manila-based illustrator and muralist who runs ultramarathons, climbs mountains, and covers distances that most people would not choose to measure. He is also, in the same breath, an artist whose work has always been drawn to bodies in motion, to the texture of effort, and to the unspoken transformation that happens when a person refuses to stop.
His technical foundation was built at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where he studied Visual Communication. That training became a career: commissions for PepsiCo, Canva, Philippine Airlines, Allianz PNB Life, Uniqlo, and Decathlon, among others, spanning advertising, architecture, literature, and film. His work is characterized by dynamic compositions, figures mid-movement, and a visual language that is warm, energetic, and rooted in place and lived experience.
The mountains and the trails came later — a discovery made in adulthood, after a childhood with limited access to open spaces and recreational terrain. Like any long climb, the late start sharpened rather than diminished the experience. Each new landscape arrived with a heightened awareness of what it costs to get there and what the body learns on the way.
