Last night, I had an epiphany that if Instagram disappeared, I’d have no online presence for my artworks. There’d also be no way for me to relive my adventures. So, I finally decided to take this website thing more seriously (para masulit na rin yung annual fee).
I added this not-so-secret section as a journal to document my favorite travel and race experiences. I’ll try to add notes per entry to practice verbalizing my feelings—though I’m not sure how long I can keep this up. But yeah, this will mostly just be a photo/video dump area.

58km. 2700+m of vert. 3 mountains. It was a HOT climb with technical descents, but managed to power through.

After joining my first ultra trail run, I realized that I enjoyed trail running more that triathlon events. So I’m shelving my Ironman dreams for now. And Triman 2025 might be my last multisport event for now as well. I’ll focus my extra savings in joining more trail events to gain more experience. To be continued.

This time, I joined the Explore Mt. Apo team. Resbak operation kasama si wifey, plus some really strong hiker friends.

My very first mountain experience was back in Grade 6 (2006), during a church youth camp. One of our activities was a trek up Mt. Makiling. We didn’t reach the summit, but it was the closest I had ever gotten, at that age, to an actual hiking experience.
Growing up in a household one tier below middle-class, I never really considered making this a hobby. I enjoyed it, but I knew I couldn’t afford that kind of lifestyle at that point in my life.
Fast forward to 2014: I was invited by a friend (hi Ate Badet!) to join a two-day hike. I only said yes dahil libre. I didn’t have decent camping gear at the time — just an old, ragged TNF backpack and a pair of Sandugo sandals — but I still went for it.
We climbed Mt. Mariveles, *Tarak Ridge, (which I consider my “mother mountain.”) Everything went wrong during that hike. The weather was bad, our backpacks got soaked, rain leaked into our tents, and the strap of my Sandugo sandals snapped on our way down. But despite all that, it remains one of my most memorable hikes, and it’s the reason I got into this outdoor lifestyle.

Actually kaya talaga in two-days. We managed to reach Vigan during our first day. It was a 400-kilometer gran fondo. Then on our second day, pag dating namin sa Laoag, nasaktuhan naming may fiesta so nakitambay na lang muna...
